Our story

She is turning seventy, and the first thing in her heart is thanksgiving. Titilayo Alogba has known mercy in her own life. Hands held her up when she could not stand alone. Now that she has a little, she does not want to keep it to herself. This foundation is how she gives that mercy back. She helps a woman who is already trying with what her trade needs, so she too can stand on her own.

It begins as a thanksgiving, and it grows into a way of working: women found and helped all through the year, in Lagos and Ogun State, with all of it kept in the open. This is why she gives, and how.

Why she gives

Mercy received, mercy given

She has watched what a small, well-placed sum can do in the hands of a woman who already knows her trade. The money is real capital, not charity handed down. It is enough to stock a stall properly or buy in bulk, and enough to steady a home.

The women are found and vouched for through trusted community hands. A market leader or a church mother who knows who is trying hard and held back by a lack of capital. Then a trustee verifies, quietly and with care, before anything is given.

And the help does not end on the day it is given. We stay close as her trade grows. When she is doing well, we add more.

I am turning 70, and the first thing in my heart is thanksgiving. So now that I have a little, I do not want to keep it to myself.

What guides us

Vision, mission, purpose

Vision

Women standing on their own

Vision

All through the year we find women with care, and give each one what her trade needs. We stay close as it grows, and we keep the whole of it in the open, so anyone can see how the help is used.

Help placed where it grows

Mission

Mercy was received, and mercy is what we give. Our purpose is to turn one woman's thanksgiving into steady, dignified support for others. A hand up, so a woman can stand on her own.

Mercy, turned into a hand up

Purpose

What we hold to

The values

Fairness

Chosen on need and effort, never on who you know or what you believe. The same care for every woman.

A pure heart

Given freely, expecting nothing back. No strings and no quiet conditions, only the wish that she does well.

Dignity

She is a woman by her name, with a trade of her own. Never a case, never a number.

A note on faith. Faith is the founder's own reason for giving. She gives out of gratitude for the mercy she has received, not because anyone asks it of her. It is never a condition on receiving. The foundation supports women of any faith, and no woman is ever asked what she believes.

Àánú ni mo rí gbà

It is mercy I have received, and mercy is what I want to give.
